Trans Can HWY #18: Crescent City

Two years ago this past August, my mother and I ventured on a cross country trek in my brother’s Jeep across Canada. We drove west from southwestern Ontario to Vancouver, BC over the course of two weeks, and then down to northern California to meet up with the men in our family. The following are taken from emails I wrote to family and friends.

Day 18: Friday, August 17, 2012

IMG_4260Yesterday was a very casual day. Woke up late, had breakfast late. While the men puttered around with their bikes, realigning this, adding oil here, etc., mom and I got some significant reading accomplished.

Made our way to Jedidiah State Park to visit a Redwood grove, which the name escapes me. Most impressive.  A very different feel to the Cathedral Grove we visited back on Vancouver Island.

Ended up in Crescent City, where it’s roughly 60 degrees Fahrenheit all year round, a coastal city (if you can call it a city) with some very interesting toothless characters. We got our tire fixed, Jason’s too, and dad went out in search for a motorbike trailer so we can lug his bike back while he rides in the luxury that is a car.

Heard some very loud Sea Lions and followed their wailing to the source and took some pics of them and their cousins, the Harbor Seals.

That pretty much sums yesterday up, unless you care for me to write about doing laundry for three hours. Boy, was that fun.
